2017 Tour de Farms June 9th – 11th
Registration Deadline is June 8th—Sign up at the Owner Services Desk at the front of the store.
With warm weather upon us and our local farmers really getting into the swing of things, we’re so happy to announce that it’s time for our 4th annual Tour de Farms! This event has come to be our most popular (besides Owner Appreciation Weekends, of course!), and we’ve once again arranged a series of scheduled farm and business tours that offer you the chance to visit our local farm and business owners who produce food for us—right where they live and work. Each stop will have different activities and demonstrations, plus you’ll have a chance to sample food or drink at almost every destination. Schedule follows.
Tri Cycle Farms is hosting a Meet the Farmer dinner on Friday, June 9th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, with seating limited to 40 people. Four local farmers will be on hand to have a discussion about local farming and food in our area. Chef Jared Hickman is donating his time to create a wonderful meal made with locally-sourced ingredients, including braised lamb from Villines Family Farm (or roasted shiitakes from Sweden Creek if you’re a vegetarian). Our Outreach Coordinator, Heather Artripe, is providing mini carrot Bundt cakes for dessert, and A la Carte will be providing tasty appetizers, such as goat cheese-stuffed shiitake mushrooms and Tuscan kale salad. Take a look at the full menu here. The cost for the dinner is $50, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Tri Cycle Farms. Complimentary wine from Keels Creek Winery will be available and Fossil Cove Brewing Company will also be on hand selling their tasty brews. You can sign up for the dinner online here, or at the Owner Services Desk.
