Chocolate Orange Crinkle Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup Wholesome granulated sugar

2/3 cup Organic Valley unsalted butter, softened

1 Tbsp. grated organic orange peel

1 tsp. Simply Organic orange flavor

1 Vital Farms large egg

1 1/2 cups War Eagle Mill all-purpose flour

1/3 cup Equal Exchange baking cocoa

1/4 tsp. kosher salt

1/4 tsp. Rumford baking powder

1/4 tps. Bob's Red Mill baking soda

1 cup Enjoy Life mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/3 cup Wholesome granulated sugar

1 Tbsp. grated organic orange peel

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350.

Step 2

In the bowl of a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, cream sugar with the butter, until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes. Add in orange peel, orange flavor, and egg together. Scraping down the sides as needed.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. With the mixer on, slowly add in your dry mixture until just combined.

Step 4

Fold in your chocolate chips.

Step 5

Roll in 1 – 1 ½ inch balls.

Step 6

Mix 1/3 C sugar and 1 t orange peel in separate bowl. Roll dough balls in the mixture and place 3 inches apart on baking sheet. Flatten partially with the bottom of a glass or your palm.

Step 7

Bake 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to crisp but the centers are a little soft.
